The album, College Rock, kept me hooked right the way through. There's something of The Blue Orchids tunefulness, and American Psych hipnosis about this lot. Out on Richie Records/Testostertunes.

It’ll be available in stores on October 29, but you’ll likely have a chance to order it a little earlier from the label direct.

 





and just in case you've been asleep under a rock for the last five years, Purling Hiss was created by Mike Polizze, former guitar-hero of Birds of Maya. Initially it was his home recordings of ideas. They were incredible and released on vinyl by the cream of the underground labels Permanent Records, TestosterTunes, Mexican Summer, and Woodsist. All of these have been played on my shows. He then morphed PH into a full power trio and they were signed by Drag City for their 2013 release. The curious thing about them is that, despite having a R'n'R guitar-god in the ranks, the worse the recording quality, the more amazing they sound!
